Ms. Painted Lady

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Alexandria Dixon, Professional Makeup Artist and Licensed Cosmetologist and also the owner of Ms. Painted Lady Artistry.

I scheduled a session with Alexandria a couple of months ago while in Dallas on a weekend getaway. My session with Ms. Dixon was way more than what I expected. It was truly a unique experience and I learned new things, which I start applying immediately. The experience was such a memorable, insightful, and fun experience.

With all of that said, I asked Alexandria for some tips on how to keep your makeup flawless on your fabulous day and this is what she said:

There are so many tricks of the trade you can use in order to keep your makeup flawless on your big day. Being a professional, I have done makeup for years, and take a super simple, minimal approach to touch-ups.

For you ladies that get a little more glow than you prefer, (we're talking oily ladies) you can simply take a clean tissue or a sponge and blot your key areas. Generally, nose, chin and center of the eyebrows)

Some other key components to maintain your look would be to have your lip pencil,gloss/lipstick, and lash glue in a little makeup bag or purse.
Of course,the last thing a bride wants to worry about on this fabulous day
would be carrying these items.
So, you ladies may want to leave them in the care of your maid of honor.
Lash glue is always a must but the last thing women think of. If your faux lash comes off, then the whole look is a bust.

Some things to look for when choosing your makeup artist....Make sure to request a trial before the day of, always ensure the artist is aware of your desires and can make them happen for you (nothing is impossible to achieve), and even if you enjoy matte finish foundation, make sure there is some sort of glow on your skin somewhere.

Iridescent blush in peach/pink tones are nice, a soft shimmer highlighter is fabulous, or if you don't want to see shimmer on your face, make sure your gloss has a little shine. Having a soft glow (not frost texture, but satin) somewhere on the face allows you to look softer and more youthful, and also photographs beautifully.
